Hello January 12th, 2017!  And hello to you, entrepreneur!

I can barely contain my excitement.  This was a labour of love for me since November.  I remember chatting with my biz bestie, Lauren Black, and telling her all about my idea for this thing that I had in my head.  See, I really needed to chat with someone immediately to get it out of my head so that I can hear if it sounded as good out loud as it did in my head.

Lauren agreed to chat with me within a couple of hours and we talked for a good bit of time.  She loved the idea, I loved it even more.  She helped me brainstorm a few ways to make it better and boy was I writing.

I had made the decision to attend a conference in 2017.  Danielle Roberts and I were on Facebook Messenger one morning and she was encouraging me to come to The Boss Mom Retreat.  I told her I really couldn’t.  Then she mentioned if I knew about Reina’s event that she was having on the East Coast.  I said no and it just hit me, like a ton of bricks actually.  I remember I started typing out ‘why isn’t there a website, like a central location for conferences and other events’.  Then I erased it.  I don’t know why, maybe because I didn’t want Danielle to steal (sorry Danielle) my idea that I hadn’t seen actually exist within the online entrepreneur realm.

I was so protective of it, my idea, only telling certain people who I knew I could trust and would get their support.

This was a November morning, chatting with Danielle and dressing my boys to leave the house.  Being a mom and a business owner is no joke, #CanIGetAnAmen (I heard ya)!  The more I thought about it, the more I felt like it was bigger than me.  I got a little overwhelmed at one time because I started thinking about how much money I would need to spend for branding, a developer and other important pieces to get it up and started.  And I had lofty goals too!  I wanted to launch it on January 1, about 6 weeks after the idea!  That’s me, the Executive – ENTJ.

God put Lauren in my life for this very reason, I believe.  She’s such an integral part of this project as I am.  She gave me an awesome brand that I could not have even imagined.  That logo is sweet, isn’t it!  #SheDidThat.  And Krista Miller, my amazing developer, who worked on this last minute job and hooked the calendar plugin all the way up for me!  Krista couldn’t help but be excited for me and she thought I was funny too.  It’s the Caribbean in me, we’re a bit wild!  Thank you so much, to these two wonderful ladies who really stepped in and helped me launch this thing, ahem, Conference Connection right.

My other biz besties (don’t wanna drop names because I don’t wanna forget anyone, but you know who you are) supported me and were my cheerleaders.  Thanks for the encouragement.  When I told Becca Berg that I wanted to launch in 6 weeks, she said, You can do it!  My emotions are running so high right now, I can’t believe this is a reality today.  Today will go down in history, in my books at least.

Last but not least, thank you to everyone who filled out my form for the market research I did.  Couldn’t have done it without you!

Conference Connection is the entrepreneur’s guide to conferences, retreats and workshops.  It’s an amazing resource.  Our calendar is a little bare right now but I’m working on filling it up.  At least it’s out there, right?!
